Going to the Dogs
In the early 1970's while living in Menlo Park, Ca., I was drawn to a Standard Schnauzer bitch named Gretchen who came to a small park with her owner to train for her CDX. I was often there too, with my baby daughter, also named Gretchen. (She is now 37, mother of two, living in Los Gatos, California). In 1974, I decided to co-own a standard schnauzer bitch, and so it all began.
By the 1980's, I moved with my family to New England where I fell in love with the great, royal Doberman Pinscher with his awe-inspiring "look of eagles." It was in Danvers, MA at the 1982 Doberman National Specialty, after watching specials, that I became determined to buy a Doberman show bitch. So my first doberman was from breeder Loretta Whitney of Milllbrae,CA. That bitch was Toria's Gambit of Hylerhaus (Ch. Teraden's Double Dealer x Toria's Silk Screen) born 7-14-82. Gambit did not turn out to be a show bitch, but we did share the bonds of love and loyalty.
Let's show those bites!!! Puppy with daughter Janie in 1982
